10th January 2014 , A Dalit headmistress of a government middle school in S Chakilipatti near Harur in the district was suspended for allegedly hitting a teacher with footwear.
According to the sources, the incident took place on January 6 after some parents complained headmistress G Selvarani during the students counselling meeting that T Kalaiyarasan, teacher of Class III, had not evaluated the answer scripts properly.
Selvarani conducted an enquiry into the complaint which sparked a verbal altercation and during the course of the argument Selvarani hit Kalaiyarasan with her slippers.
